It's not just for the men either, although it
does make a good present to send them off to make their own walking stick and
then go hiking from here!
On a workshop with Peter I made 2 walking
sticks, one a blackberry thumb stick, one with a horn handle and a short one for
my grandson Dan. I was very pleased with my walking sticks and use them daily, although one at a time, it helps me up the surrounding hills!
I have just added a new date, Saturday 31st August,
with tutor Peter Snelson. He's a woodman who makes his living from the woods,
building dry stone-walling, fencing and countryside service and he visits the
Shows in the summer selling a lovely assortment of interesting wooden items and
is well known for his walking sticks.
Here are the details and a photo, and if you
are interested we could change the times 9.30 - 1.30pm, or an afternoon
session?
