It's Bridport Food Festival this weekend

A taste of what’s to come…

Food Festival Saturday 15th June and

Our Father's Day Brunch Sunday 16th June, details below

bridportlogoThere’s just a few days to go now until Bridport Food Festival’s Main Event.

Lined up for this Saturday 15th June are excellent producers with delicious food to try and buy plus a tempting range of options for hot food to enjoy in the fresh air at the town’s lush Askers Meadows.  We have some equally interesting non-food exhibitors this year – including crafts, activities and special interest groups.Les at bench

Entry to the Main Event is just £2.50 for adults and FREE for the under-14s.  Advance tickets at £2 are still available from Bridport Tourist Information Centre on South Street.

Free fun for kids can be found in the Childrens’ Marquee where the chance to bake, make cheese or create a fruit smoothie using pedal power are on offer as well as art activities including biscuit decorating.  Plus There’s still time to book your place on a hands-on cookery workshop given by Tim Maddams, of River Cottage TV fame – workshops start times still available are 10am 1pm and 2.30pm and are just £5 for one adult and one child to learn together. To reserve your place see here.

The Cookery Theatre will be buzzing throughout the day with the Taste of Dorset Awards Cook-Off starting from 9.30 and further demonstrations throughout the afternoon including special guest Lesley Waters.

_DSC8324_0172Stealing a march on proceedings, The Roundtable Beer Festival will be back again for another year of fantastic froth-filled fun and kicks off on  Friday 14th June at 6pm.   This year’s offering will include 60 real ales and over 20 ciders, and with a special focus on Dorset brewers and cider makers.   Live music will be provided on both Friday and Saturday nights by popular local bands with an open mic on Saturday afternoon.

Budding bakers still have time to enter the Bridport Bake, and if you’ve been lucky enough to get your hands on a Festival Nickel then keep it safe because prizewinners will be announced at noon.IMG_6175

Whatever the weather, there’s plenty to enjoy and with more covered attractions than ever, this year’s event is one truly not to be missed.

We hope to see you at Askers Meadows… remember – good food is even more delicious outdoors!
